DONATION FAQs
Thank you for considering the NOC Thrift Store for your donations! Your generosity supports the programs and outreach efforts of the Northside Outreach Center and helps us continue serving our community.
What items NOC Thrift Store accepts?
We gladly accept new or gently used items that are clean, complete, and in good working condition, including:
Clothing, shoes, purses, and accessories
Household items and home décor
Kitchenware and small working appliances
Linens, bedding, and towels
Furniture in clean, usable condition
Mattresses and box springs that have been approved in advance
Seasonal decorations
Other resellable items in good condition
What items NOC Thrift Store is unable to accept?
Please do not donate:
Items that are broken, heavily stained, torn, moldy, or have strong odors
Furniture with pet damage, smoke odors, pests, or excessive wear
Items that require significant repairs or cleaning
Used personal-care products
Hazardous materials, chemicals, paint, or flammable products
Recalled items or baby equipment that does not meet current safety standards
Items that cannot be safely handled, stored, or resold
Because our storage space is limited, we may occasionally be unable to accept certain items—even if they are in good condition. Final acceptance is based on the item’s condition, current store needs, available space, and our ability to safely resell it.
Does NOC Thrift Store offer donation pickups?
Limited donation pickup service may be available for furniture and larger items.
Before a pickup can be scheduled, we must review photos of the items to make sure we are able to accept them.
Please email photos to Brittanyv.noc@gmail.com and include:
Your name and phone number
The pickup address
Clear photos of each item
A brief description of the item’s condition
Approximate dimensions, if available
Any stairs, narrow doorways, or other access concerns
Your preferred pickup days and times
Can you disassemble or remove items from inside my home?
Can I receive a donation receipt?
Whenever possible, furniture should be disassembled before our team arrives. Items must be safely accessible and ready for removal. Please let us know in advance about stairs, tight spaces, unusually heavy items, or anything else that could affect the pickup.
Yes. Donation receipts are available for accepted donations, upon request. Donors are responsible for determining the value of donated items.
What happens after you send my photos?
We will review the photos and determine whether we can accept the items.
If approved, we will contact you to coordinate an available pickup date and time.
Please do not leave items outside unless that has been specifically arranged.
Items must be ready and safely accessible when our pickup team arrives.
Our team will make the final decision upon seeing the items in person. We may decline an item if its condition differs from the photos or if it cannot be safely removed.
Submitting photos does not guarantee that we can accept or pick up an item. Pickup availability depends on our volunteer team, vehicle availability, storage space, and current store needs.
