Have some free time to donate? Here are some immediate opportunities to serve:

Elementary After School Program

Our invaluable partnership with Youth Life Foundation of Richmond enables us to provide a high quality after-school and summer program for elementary students in our community.

Mentoring Teenage Girls

JSS (Jesus’ Shining Stars) is a discipleship group for at-risk teen girls. Through the development of close mentoring relationships with Godly, mature women, these girls are challenged to see their true value through Jesus Christ, and develop healthy lifestyle habits and leadership skills.

Urban Rangers

Urban Rangers is our discipleship program for 3rd-8th grade boys, modeled after the Boy Scouts, with an added focus on scripture, as well as an urban twist. Our partnership with Destiny City Fellowship church allows us to provide a structured and fun classroom setting for the boys, and Godly men as leaders and mentors.

Addiction Recovery Program

Overcomers Outreach (OO) is a Christ-centered 12-step recovery program for individuals affected by any type of addiction. Through this group, members find the extra care and encouragement necessary to pursue healing, escape shame and isolation, and find freedom from the bondage of addiction.

Thrift Store

Volunteer at our Thrift Store. Consider donating a few hours each week, Mon-Fri 10:00am – 2pm.  The store is located on the first floor of our building and it provides quality clothing, home furnishings, and much more, at an affordable price for the surrounding community. Our customers know that the volunteers at our store will always welcome them with a listening ear, a loving hand, and a prayer lifted up to God on their behalf.

Also consider donating your gently used, quality items to the store…or do some SHOPPING!

Community Outreach

Our Monthly neighborhood cookouts, Community Christmas Stores, and Back to School Rallies are a few of the ways that the NOC reaches out to show Christ’s love to the Northside community at large.

Local Food Pantry

Due to the extreme poverty level, the vast amount of people without food, and the lack of available resources in our area, we have decided to open a local food pantry. The building is located within two blocks of the NOC and we are working through the final details of approval to become a Central Virginia Food Bank outpost upon opening.

Donate your time to help us bag the food for the pantry and donate non-perishable food items.

Jobs For Life

16 week Christian based job readiness program.

NOC Building Expansion

Plans for our expanded facility have been drawn up and approved by the city, the property has been purchased, and we can’t wait to break ground! This new 8,000+ square foot addition will allow us to expand our thrift store and learning center, as well as add new programs such as adult literacy and job preparation classes, and a pregnancy resources center.

If you are a church, consider sponsoring a phase of construction and be a part of this new church plant. Donate supplies, building materials, or give us financial support.  If you are a construction professional please consider helping us pro-bono or with reduced cost construction.
